Tiredness in pregnancy is very common but there are a few things that you can do to help it!
- Drink more water – Yes, I’m sorry, it does likely mean even more bathroom visits. If you’re tired, try drinking more water throughout the day as your fluid needs increase during pregnancy, Tiredness is a sign of dehydration. If you’re struggling with drinking water, you could try adding squash, sliced fruit, even herbs.
- Eat more protein – Your protein needs increase during pregnancy but protein will also help you to feel full for longer. Foods that are high in protein include eggs, nuts, beans and meat.
- Complex carbs – Include more complex carbs in your diet. Complex carbs like whole grains, oats and brown rice take the body longer to process and digest giving you slow-release energy, helping with those tired spells in the afternoons!
- Sleep! – If you’re struggling with sleep, try to avoid drinking caffeine in the afternoons and avoid watching tv or using your phone for an hour before bed and give your body a night-time wind down routine. Remember that your body is working super hard growing a baby so take that nap if you need it.
