It may sound odd but a comb really can help you in labour! It’s such a simple tool but it can make such a difference to your experience. I first read about using a comb after I’d spoken to my acupuncturist about using acupressure techniques during labour and it’s awesome.

Holding the comb in your hand works in two ways. Firstly, the comb presses into your acupressure points and encourages your body to produce lots of lovely hormones that help you feel more relaxed and calmer.

Secondly, it’s a brilliant distractionary tool. Your brain can only focus on one or two things at any one time so squeezing the comb in your hand takes your attention to another part of your body; away from the intensity and potential discomfort of your abdomen.

What are you waiting for?! Pack yourself a comb in your hospital bag!

Come along to the next hypnobirthing class on July 22nd. In my classes you will learn more amazing ways to be calm, confident and in control during labour. For more information pop over to my website JustExhale or my Facebook page: Just Exhale | Facebook
